Pakistan Montessori Council serves as a Montessori welfare society and a Montessori umbrella under which individuals, schools, Montessori businesses and educational organisations can come closer and work mutually for the promotion of Montessori system in Pakistan. It is important to mention that the word "COUNCIL" in Pakistan Montessori Council does not refer to the commonly assumed meaning in Pakistan i.e. "Regulatory Authority" but to it's literal origins where it refers to a group of equals who sit together to seek solutions to problems or to pursue the same cause.

Pakistan Montessori Council is sponsored and financial aided by the following companies, which are also referred as PMC's Panel of Parent Organisations (or Sponsors) (PPPO), which include;

1. Montessori Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd.

and  several hundreds of affiliated entities which include Montessori schools, Montessori related businesses and individuals constituting Panel of Affiliated Individuals and Organisations (PAIO).

PMC's primary role is to pass on the benefits resulting from financial aid, services and research carried out PPPO to the members of PAIO in the form of free or subsidized training workshops and seminars, Montessori materials, curriculum resources and manuals of administrative excellence. The following paragraphs will introduce you to the parent organizations, their delegated contributions and will give you a glimpse into our mission itself.

1) Montessori Pakistan (MP), registered under section 32 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984 (XLVII of 1984) with the government of Pakistan, plays the role of the training division. MP also holds the exclusive affiliation of Skill Development Council (SDC)1 regarding Montessori training in Pakistan. SDC is a project of Ministry of Manpower, Labour and Overseas Pakistanis, established with the assistance of World Bank, ILO and Employees Federation of Pakistan. MP has trained more than 4000 individuals in Montessori in the past 4 years. Its experts have formulated an international standard  teacher training course curriculum in both English and Urdu languages. The course material consists of highly illustrated 12 training manuals with supplementary listening books (available on CDs and cassettes). The course material is the pride of MP, and is superior in quality, design and content. This course does not only allow the trainees to have the training at the convenience of their home, but also opens sure chances of employment in thousands of Montessori schools worldwide. The supplementary audio support also helps many individuals to further build up their language skills. It is mandatory for all the trainees to go through practical workshops in which the they acquire hands-on experience with scientific Montessori material and activities. These workshops are conducted throughout the year at convenient location free of cost for the students. The second role of MP is to open franchised training centres all around Pakistan, for which a comprehensive layout has been formulated.

2) Pakistan Montessori Concern, also registered under section 32 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984 (XLVII of 1984) with Securities and Exchange Commission, government of Pakistan, has set up Pakistans largest state-of-the-art Montessori material manufacturing factory, and serves primarily as the Montessori school resources mercantile concern. Its mission is to make the purchase of material not just affordable, but through the strict quality control measures employed, it ensures international quality, durability and non-toxicity of its products. Another worth mentioning project delegated to this parent organization is PMCKIDS, which is the chain of franchised elite Montessori schools.

Peace Education Foundation (PEF), a non-profit organization registered under section 42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984 (XLVII of 1984) with the Securities and Exchange Commission, government of Pakistan, has been delegated the responsibility of providing affiliated school a kick start to Montessori by arranging for initial facilitation. Initially, PEF has started providing not just Rs. 50,000 Montessori material to each PMC's member schools for free, but also pays for the training of two of its teachers. It, furthermore, will be organizing Peace Education Programs in schools, which are inherent in Montessori philosophy.

Why was there a need for a Montessori organization in Pakistan?

In almost all developed countries Montessori organizations are working in the private sector for the development and promotion of early childhood education. Some of the renowned names include International Montessori Council, Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators, California Montessori Council, Montessori India, Association Montessori International (AMI), Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE).

Now due to the efforts of these organizations Montessori method of teaching has establish firm roots in the countries where they are working. Today, Montessori method is the most wide-spread system of teaching at pre-school level in the world.

In Pakistan, however, even after 100 years since the world became known to this excellent system, we hardly have done anything in this respect. Firstly, we need to spread awareness regarding the importance of the absorbent age (3 to 6 years). This is the most important period of one's life and if proper training and appropriate experiences are not provided, complete development of the faculties of mind and senses does not take place. Secondly, we need to train our teachers and implement this system of education in our schools for a brighter next generation. On the contrary, most of our schools have been continuously using the traditional ways of teaching, which ultimately produce most of the students with incomplete mental development who hate schools and lack creativity, skill, independence and initiative.

For these reason it became extremely necessary that we also establish an organization like the ones mentioned above which spreads awareness and brings the required changes in our current pre-school educational system. We are eager to have your support and cooperation.
